Live-in Care or Care Home?
How does Live-in Care compare?
There's more than one way to receive round-the-clock care and support, and it's important you take the right path for you. So, how does Live-in Care compare to a care home?
Having someone on-hand 24 hours a day can really make a difference. Care homes are sometimes the perfect solution, but we want to make sure you know there are other options available, and how they might compare.
Staying at home is an option you can explore. Our Live-in Care services allow you to receive the same level of care and support, but with the added comfort and security of familiar surroundings.
What is Live-in Care?
Live-in care is a cosier, comfier, affordable alternative to residential care. You get to stay at home, surrounded by everything you care about most; family, friends, neighbours, your favourite armchair, mug, slippers... they're all such important aspects of your life.
Even the smallest things can make the biggest difference.
Is it Better than Residential Care?
Residential care can be beneficial for those who need round-the-clock support, but live-in care is an amazing alternative that offers one-to-one care whenever and however you need it, with the added bonus of staying at home.
To help you decide which option is right for you, we've compiled a small list of comparisons.
1 – Independence
For some, independence is crucial. Live-in Care allows you to choose what support you want, how you want it, and even what time you want it. You have the right to choose how you want to live, and Live-in Care helps you do just that.
While care homes often run on a strict schedule to make sure patients receive the right care and support, our home care services are unique to you, and this is adaptable as and when your care needs change - which we know can happen a lot! This level of flexibility allows you to make your own decisions and remain independent at home.
Whether it's bingo on a Friday night, visiting the family on Tuesday's, or going to church on Sundays, we'll see to it that you do!
2 – Pets
Many beautiful animals are often forced into shelters or rehomed when their life-long companions move into a care home, no matter how loved they are. Losing something so important can make the transition into care so much more stressful and heart-breaking.
Live-in Care means you don't have to say goodbye to them at all. Our pets are a huge part of our lives, and there's no better place for them than right next to you.

3 – Comfort
We're all most comfortable when we're at home, maybe sipping on a nice hot cup of tea or watching our favourite programme on the telly. Sometimes getting the care you need means giving up that special place, but Live-in Care means you don't have to.
Live-in Care fits around your schedule, so you can keep living your life the way you want to, where you want to, and still receive the care and support you need.
4 – Ease
Moving is hard. It’s a strain you could do without. Not only does Live-in Care make the transition into care a little bit easier, but it offers peace of mind for both you and your family if you don't have to go anywhere. Friends can still pop round for tea, and the children and grandchildren will always know exactly where to find Granny and Grandpa!
Receiving care for the first time can be daunting, but we'll do our very best to take away any additional stress that often comes with it. Without the upset of moving house and rebuilding routines, you can focus on adjusting to life with round-the-clock care and support instead.
5 – Community
You probably have a few traditions you enjoy around the neighbourhood, especially if you've lived there a long time! You might have friends and family close by, or even social groups or classes you like. The downfall of moving into a care home when it's time for some extra support, is that you also have to move away from all the connections you’ve created within your community.
That's also where Live-in Care can often be a much easier transition. You can keep up with all those great community events and socials that you enjoy.
We know how daunting and emotional this time can be, but our friendly office team are always available to chat. We'd love to help!
