Bluebird Care has just launched a new fundraising partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, and they’ve got Dame Arlene Phillips DBE lending her support!
Bluebird Care aims to raise significant funds for the Alzheimer’s Society over the next year. They’re on a mission to make a real difference in the lives of those living with dementia and their families and to be the top specialists in dementia home care.
Last August, they held a fab launch event in London with Dame Arlene Phillips DBE as the special guest. For those who don’t know, she’s a celebrity choreographer and a dedicated dementia activist. At the event, Bluebird Care’s Chief Executive, Jonathan Gardner, and reps from Alzheimer’s Society signed a pledge to officially kick off this partnership, showing their commitment to supporting those affected by dementia.
Jonathan also announced that all 10,000 Bluebird Care team members across the UK will become Dementia Friends. This is part of a national initiative by the Alzheimer’s Society to help people understand what it’s like to live with dementia.
Dame Arlene didn’t just sign the pledge—she spent time chatting with the Bluebird Care team, sharing experiences and discussing the importance of specialised dementia care. She also heard about the team’s creative fundraising plans for the summer, all aimed at supporting the Alzheimer’s Society.
Dame Arlene has a personal connection to this cause, having gone through her father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. She’s now a passionate advocate for better dementia care and awareness as an Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador.
The stats are pretty sobering: one in three people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia at some point. By 2040, it’s expected that 1.4 million people will be living with the condition. With 202 franchises offering both residential and live-in care, Bluebird Care is making a big impact on communities across the UK and Ireland through this partnership and its dedication to top-notch dementia care.
Jonathan Gardner put it perfectly:
We’re so proud of this partnership with Alzheimer’s Society. Our goal is to provide outstanding care for everyone living with dementia through our home and live-in care services. We’re thrilled to donate £50,000 from our franchise partners’ fundraising efforts and to roll out Dementia Friends sessions to our team. Having Dame Arlene Phillips with us today is just the icing on the cake.”
