Maureen Reader, Care Worker with Bluebird Care Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells has been announced as Care Worker of the year. The award is a great achievement and creates an opportunity to celebrate good care.

The award was presented by Cllr David Elliott and Cllr June Crowhurst, Mayor and Mayoress of Tunbridge Wells at a special afternoon tea, held on 3rd March.

Claire Stanley, Care Manager explained that:

‘We have a great team of Care Workers and are very proud of them all. We very much appreciate the hard work and dedication they give to their customers each day. Our Care Worker of the Year award is a great opportunity to show our appreciation for their work.

The feedback we regularly receive from our customers about Maureen is always very positive. Maureen forms a great relationship with her customers and it is our privilege to be able to recognize her in this way. It was also fantastic to be joined by Margaret Dickson who represented our named charity Hospice in the Weald’

Maureen, who has worked in care for a number years, was nominated because of her dedication and excellence in the quality of the support she provides. She regularly receives compliments from her customers and one particular customer, Mrs Sally Brokenhurst, explained that:

‘Maureen is my star! I have had care for just a few weeks and she is excellent. When she visits, I can tell her something and everything works beautifully.

I see Maureen twice a day and she is a normal, practical person who is interested in me. She can talk sensibly, has a nice family including a dog (which I love). Plus, she makes me the best porridge that I have ever had.’

Upon receiving the award, Maureen explained that:

‘I work hard to provide care support to the community and it gives me great pleasure to know that my customers are safe at home.

Receiving the Care Worker of the year award is a really big achievement for me and it is lovely to be recognized. In particular, it is really good to hear the positive comments from those whom I care for.’
