As we end our #MyStory series, we are pleased to introduce you to customer Mick, who lives in the house he has since 2001. We would like to thank Mick for sharing his story with us.

The support that we provide enables our customers to remain at home and the goal of our #MyStory campaign is to raise awareness of the benefits that care at home can bring. This is through helping our customers remain in an environment that is familiar to them and that they are comfortable in.

Born at Harrow on the hill in 1947, Mick grew up in Eastbourne. Mick's dad worked for Brewers & Sons in Eastbourne and following in his father's footsteps, Mick started working at Brewers & Sons in Tonbridge in1968.

One of Mick's roles was as a warehouse assistant and very much enjoyed the role! Mick enjoyed his role so much that he chose to make Brewers & Sons his career and worked there for 40 years; retiring in 2008!

Mick now lives in Tonbridge and whilst he lives alone, he has made a lot of friends on the estate and regularly spends time with them. Being able to stay at home means that he is able to continue these relationships as well as being able to get out and about.

Our passion is enabling people to continue with their daily life as independently as possible and although Mick does not require as intense support as some of our customers, the support that our team do provide enable him to remain at home.

Zoe, Care Manager

Mick makes the most of his free bus pass and enjoys travelling each day! Some of his favourite destinations include Starbucks, where he visits twice a week, Tesco and WHSMITH!

In addition to this, Mick loves railways and particularly has fond memories of the Bluebell railway where he used to enjoy visiting.

Bluebird Care visit me each day to help with day-to-day tasks including cleaning and doing the laundry. As well as helping with these jobs, it is lovely to see my Care Assistants each day because I have regular faces and it is really nice to have a chat!
