Celebrating 100 With Mabel

We recently celebrated with one of our customers who marked their 100th birthday! We planned a surprise visit, card and cake! Former Woolworth's employee Mabel celebrated the milestone on 21 February, with the Queen among her many well-wishers on the day.

Mabel enjoyed a surprise party with her family at the weekend, including her fourteen great grandchildren.
Mabel was bowled over that we visited and said:
I have so many happy memories over the years and although I never planned to make it to 100 I feel very blessed to have lived such a long and fulfilling life!
A lot of people have asked me the secret of my longevity, but I think it's just been down to working hard, keeping active and making every day count.

George V was on the throne when Mabel was born, while the year also saw the first General Election in which women were entitled to vote or stand as candidates for office.

We were delighted to share in Mabel's 100th birthday celebrations, she has been a valued customer for years and it was a privilege to surprise her with a birthday cake and enjoy spending time with her.
