With the number of elderly people living with dementia in the UK set to reach more than one million by 2025, we have launched an innovative new online tool to improve the wellbeing of people living with dementia.

We are delighted to launch RemindMeCare, the leading online dementia care system available in the UK.

RemindMeCare is an online tool that stimulates memories by creating a personalised library of pictures, games, music and video that relates to the patient's own life story. The app matches the profile of the person with content that is automatically sourced from the internet.

Recent studies have shown that reminiscing about past experiences has a very positive impact on those living with dementia’s wellbeing and their ability to feel part of a community. Developed in association with dementia care professionals, the RemindMeCare app is designed to aid reminiscence and promote family engagement in the care process.

Clare Mortlock, Operations Manager said:
Dementia care is very demanding, not just for the person being cared for but also for their carers and family.

The better a carer knows the life story of a person in care, the better the outcome, as this knowledge is invaluable for understanding their past and communicating with them to provide high quality, person-centred care and support.
RemindMeCare works by stimulating long-term memories through a personalised library of the images, sounds and music that shaped their lives. This gives carers and the person's family access to information that can stimulate conversations, improving engagement and reducing isolation, which is a real problem for many people as their dementia progresses. The app is simple to set up, inexpensive and easy to use, as all our carers need is internet access and a tablet or laptop.

RemindMeCare enables access to more than 10 billion media resources on the internet, providing relevant content for any of Bluebird Care's clients, whatever their age, cultural background or medical condition. Fully portable, the software can be used in one-to-one sessions with a carer, or in a group setting with up to eight users taking part simultaneously.

We will be using RemindMeCare with our live in care customers first and then making it available to our community customers over the coming months.
