An award-winning, Essex-based homecare provider has announced this week that it has become a National Living Wage Employer.

Bluebird Care, who provide specialist care and support services for older people, adults with physical disabilities and other conditions, is keen to ensure its employees earn a wage which reflects the costs of actual living.
 
Alvin Osei-Tutu, Director of Bluebird Thurrock & Castle Point, said:

Families are experiencing rising pressure from higher living costs and by providing the National Living Wage it enables our staff to support their families, pay the bills and save some extra cash as well!”
 
The National Living Wage is an obligatory minimum wage payable to workers in the UK aged 25 and over which came into effect in April 2016. As of today, it’s £8.21 per hour for those aged 25 and over, but employers are encouraged to pay more if they can.
 
Bluebird Care Thurrock & Castle Point, which covers both boroughs, has recently increased its hourly pay for care workers from £9.00 to £9.50 per hour.
