Eastcott Community Centre has been awarded the Bluebird Care Swindon community grant.

The purpose of the community grant launched by Bluebird Care Swindon is to support community projects that make a positive difference in people's lives - particularly the older members of society.

Eastcott Community Organisation is managed by a board of trustees and other volunteers, organising events and activities to help bring the community closer together. Formed in 2013 most of the trustees and volunteers are local residents who provide opportunities for the local community to engage and support each other as well as improving everyone’s wellbeing.

It applied for the grant to help fund their afternoon tea’s which are hosted fortnightly on a Friday afternoon, aimed at reaching those in the community who are retired. By providing opportunities for the community to engage and support each other, health and wellbeing is improved. It is also an opportunity to learn new things and find out what else is happening at the Savernake Street social hall, where the teas are held.

Speaking about funding this project, director of Bluebird Care Swindon Ben Curtis said:

We chose to award Eastcott Community Organisation with our community grant based on the fact the justification for their proposal was basic needs. They did not want anything luxurious, just funding to be able to continue the good work they already do in our strong community.”
Congratulations to the Eastcott Community Organisation!
