Bluebird Care Sutton has announced a hugely competitive pay package in a bid to recruit and retain the best calibre of home care assistants that the industry has to offer.

Last month the company increased their hourly pay to £12 on weekdays and £12.50 on weekends. This means that the hourly rate is over 20% higher than the National Living wage. Bluebird Care Sutton also pays travel time and mileage which is not typical for the industry.

Sandra Sousa recently joined the organisation as their Business Operations Director, she explains why she felt it important to change the company’s pay rate:

“Brexit had a significant impact on our industry. This competitive pay rate is demonstrative of the appreciation we have for our carers, and the highly skilled care they deliver. We hope that the increased hourly rate and welcome incentive will entice more people into the industry and our care company. Care work is not easy, but it is incredibly worthwhile.”

If the adult social care workforce grows proportionally to the projected number of people aged 65 and over in the population. then the number of adult social care jobs will increase by 29% (480,000 jobs) to around 2.16 million jobs by 2035. The question is whether the industry can meet the rising demand.

Home care is a fantastic industry to work in with no academic requirements – simply a passion for caring for others.  The sensitive nature of the role does however necessitate full training before a person can start work, which Bluebird Care offers, in addition to training in specialist areas such as Dementia.

As well as the increased hourly rate, the company is also offering a welcome bonus of up to £200 to anyone who joins and remains in employment Bluebird Care Chichester between now and 31st March 2022. The bonus is not only offered to new recruits, but all those who are already work for the organisation and will continue to, past 31st March 2022.

Bluebird Care’s recruitment team are keen to speak to anyone interested in working in the industry and can speak to a member of the friendly recruitment team to discuss what the role involves. Contact 03003 034900 or email: midsouthrecruitment@bluebirdcare.co.uk
