Meet the Team - Baljit & Ranjot Khatra

Baljit & Ranjot Khatra - Directors

Bluebird Care Birmingham Sutton Coldfield & Birmingham East is owned and led by Ranjot and Baljit Khatra, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge from their healthcare and finance backgrounds. Having worked with patients of her own for many years as an Optometrist, Ranjot values the importance of care, communication, and professionalism, and strives to ensure that the care provided to Bluebird Care customers is of the highest quality. It is Ranjot and Baljit’s goal to ensure that Bluebird Care is the very best care provider in the local community, as well as being the best employer. Ranjot and Baljit’s own experience of caring for their grandparents gave them a great appreciation of the importance of carers in keeping people in their own homes. This inspired the couple to start their venture with Bluebird Care, giving them the opportunity to help others live the dignified life they deserve, and be able to stay in the comfort of their own homes. ‘We have a strong belief in the selfless service of others and upholding the dignity and respect of the elderly and those in need of care. The values of Bluebird Care as a company fit perfectly with our own personal values, and we are thrilled to be part of the Bluebird Care family to be able to make a positive impact on the local community’

Christopher Penn – Registered Manager

Chris brings over 15 years of dedicated experience in social care, supporting both adults and children across a wide range of settings. He began his career as a domiciliary care assistant, working directly in people’s homes, where he quickly discovered his passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives — whether supporting older adults to live independently or helping young people feel safe, supported, and understood. Through commitment, hands-on experience, and strong leadership, Chris progressed to Senior Carer and later to Housing and Care Manager, where he successfully led large services and multidisciplinary staff teams. Along the way, he has managed and overseen a broad range of services, including home care services, residential homes, extra care facilities, reablement services, children’s residential services, and end-of-life care. Chris’s approach to care is rooted in respect, dignity, and independence. He is passionate about enabling people to maintain control over their own lives, offering the right level of support while preserving autonomy and choice. Families and customers alike value his calm, thoughtful leadership and his unwavering focus on quality, safety, and compassion. As part of Bluebird Care, Chris’s goal is to continue developing and strengthening services so that high standards of care, trust, and reliability remain at the heart of everything delivered — ensuring every individual feels supported, listened to, and truly in good hands.

Krysty O'Connor - Care Coordinator

Krysty started her career in the care sector in 2007 and fell in love with the job from the very first client she visited. She joined Bluebird Care in 2022 where her experience, skill set and passion for providing the very best care was quickly recognised and she was promoted to ‘Lead Care Expert’ within the first year. Krysty went on to complete her Level 3 in Health and Social Care and Adult Lead Care Worker in 2023 and soon after was promoted to the Care Coordinator position. In this role, Krysty ensures that the call times are met and that continuity of care. Krysty says “I love all aspects of my role. I believe everyone deserves the very best care possible and that we should all be the ones to provide that. I have the upmost respect for my team and what we collectively achieve on a daily basis. The Care Experts are all very kind, caring and compassionate, whilst being adaptable to change in every situation. I have managed to build up a very good rapport with my team on both a professional and personal level; they know we are only a call away. Our customers and their families also know we are always there for them, whether that be via a phone call or popping in to see us for a cup of tea and a chat in the office.”

Sharon Knight – Lead Care Expert

Sharon brings both personal insight and professional excellence to her role at Bluebird Care. Her journey into care began at home, supporting her mother who lived with vascular dementia — an experience that inspired her deep understanding of compassionate, person-centred care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharon expanded her knowledge through a range of care qualifications, which led her into professional care work. She quickly discovered a passion for supporting people in their own homes and building genuine, trusting relationships. At Bluebird Care, Sharon enjoys getting to know each client as an individual — listening to their stories, learning about their lives, and helping them maintain independence, dignity, and comfort. She has completed her Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care and now works as a Lead Carer.
