For customers and their family members who may be having problems and considering personal care, the Department of Works and Pension (DWP) do have a visiting team that would be happy to visit you at your home. This one-to-one support is  to guide you and provide relevant information to help you make informed decisions about your financial entitlement due . Bluebird Care in Sunderland and Washington, as a partner would be happy to organise the referrals with our local DWP. The home visit and advice service is free for vulnerable people.   • The service is there to ensure that vulnerable people are not missing out on all they are entitled to.
  • The service is there to assist with the completion of application forms for the following benefits:

State Pension, Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance (AA for people over 65 years) , Personal Independence Payment (PIP for people under 65 years) , Carer Allowance, Bereavement Benefit , Funeral payments , Employment Support Allowance and DLA renewal forms.

  • The service will signpost customers to other partner services, ie Local Authority or Voluntary Organisations.
  • For vulnerable people under State Pension Age, DWP can only accept referrals from Partner Organisations for PIP, Carer Allowance and ESA50’s (Limited Capability for Work form). All other working age queries should be made through the Jobcentre Plus.
