Paul works as a care assistant for Bluebird Care Sunderland. Paul's case study below was recently spotlighted in a document titled "Challenging Occupational Gender Stereotyping Men in Health and Care" by CFTB.

With the report stating that Men make up less than 20% of the social care workforce in the North East, this is Paul's view;

As a male, I understand that I am in the minority in the care sector however I have never had any problems during my time working in the sector. People and colleagues have been friendly and very encouraging, so males who want to work in care shouldn't hold back.
I think it would be good for more males to get involved in care as a lot of customers quite like having a choice between a male or female carer. Care is a diverse sector so it can only be good to gain a good equilibrium of female and male carers in the sector.
