Having something to ‘twiddle’ can help to have a calming effect for someone living with dementia.  The stimulation 'twiddelmuffs' provide can really add to an individuals quality of life.  Made by our Bluebird Care Knitting Club, read how our recent twiddlemuff gifts delivered to our customers have brought a smile to their faces, helping improve the quality of life whilst living with dementia.

Bluebird Care Community Team Lead, Phillippa, has been delivering to our customers living with Dementia this week.  It has been fantastic to see how delighted they have been to receive this and the feedback from both the customers, relatives and our care team has been fabulous and what a positive difference they are making to our customers lives!

"Each customer has been delighted with their delivery, one so much so, as she had seen her friend from her day centre with one and had wanted one for a while.  It was amazing to see her so pleased with it.  Her evening carer even reported back that the customers was smiling from ear to ear and showing it to her during her call!  It's a great feeling to be able to be part of this initiative!"

We are delighted, that due to the hard work and support of our Bluebird Care Knitting Club, contributed to by our customers and care team alike, and the kind help of Middleton Sewing Club, our deliveries have continued to our customers living with dementia, in the community, presenting them with a ‘Twiddlemuff’.

People who live with dementia often have restless hands and like to have something to keep their hands occupied. A ‘Twiddlemuff’ is a knitted muff with items attached to help keep hands active and busy.  It is a wonderful source of sensory stimulation, and keeps hands warm at the same time.
