Support for family members and unpaid carers

Dementia doesn't just affect the person living with the condition. Family members, friends and unpaid carers can also need information, reassurance and support.

Care at home for someone living with dementia

For some people living with dementia, the right support at home can help them remain independent and continue living in familiar surroundings for longer.

Home care can be tailored around the individual and may include:

  • Personal care and support with everyday routines
  • Help with preparing meals
  • Medication support
  • Companionship
  • Support getting out and about
  • Help maintaining independence at home
  • Respite and support for family carers

At Bluebird Care Stamford & Rutland, our Care Experts provide personalised care built around the individual. We take the time to understand each person's routines, preferences and needs, helping them continue to live safely and comfortably at home.

If you are considering care at home for yourself or someone you love, we're here to help you understand your options.

You don't have to navigate dementia alone

A diagnosis of dementia can feel overwhelming, but support is available.

Whether you're looking for information following a diagnosis, somewhere to meet other people, support as a carer or help with caring for someone at home, reaching out can be an important first step.

The organisations included in this guide offer different types of support, so it's worth contacting them to find out which services are right for you. Local groups and activities can change, so we recommend checking directly with each organisation for current information before attending.

Bluebird Care Stamford & Rutland is here to help too. If you're exploring care at home for yourself or a loved one, our team can talk through your needs and explain how home care could help.
