Bluebird Care Stafford has marked Carers Week by celebrating an exceptional member in their team, Louise Brown.

Carers Week is a yearly campaign that seeks to recognise the contribution Carers make to families and communities throughout the UK. This year, with the focus of the week around ‘Making caring visible and valued’, one special team member at the home care provider is being recognised for their fantastic work over the years.

Louise Brown has been a Carer at Bluebird Care Stafford since the home care provider’s office opened. After having been unfortunately made redundant in 2010, Louise’s nursing background and personality for people saw her match perfectly as a Carer for Bluebird Care Stafford.

For Louise, it is the trust that customers put in her that takes her to work every morning. The role of caring for a customer, in the comfort of their own home, is far more than a transaction. It is a relationship that offers reward. Louise has stayed at Bluebird Care for eleven years because she truly loves her job, the colleagues she works with, and the customers she has cared for along the way.

The key to being a successful Carer? Loyalty. Louise has benefited from having a regular run over the years, allowing her to get to know her customers extremely well. Home care, according to Louise, is the key to what makes Bluebird Care special, because it allows the customers they serve to be able to stay in their own homes.

Whether it be visiting her ‘little fish & chip queen’ Patti; attending the 100th birthday of Mick; or taking Hazel to her brother’s funeral, Louise has countless stories to tell about the people who matter most to her. She revels in the rewarding nature of the role and does not shy away from its difficulties. But above all else, she takes the opportunity to learn from the generation she cares for.

In preparation for Carers Week, Louise commented: “I love my job and I love Bluebird. Our training is second to none, we are always learning, and we have total support for all that we do. That allows us to deliver quality care to people in their own homes.

I have looked after so many people, all different but special in their own unique way. Carers Week has given me the opportunity to reflect on that, and I am grateful”.

Speaking of Louise’s career, Emily Jones, Registered Care Manager at Bluebird Care Stafford, said:

“Louise has been part of our Bluebird Care family since its doors first opened. Since then, we have seen Louise care, support and dedicate her time to our customers like they were her own. I would not hesitate to have Louise in my own home and look after one of my loved ones. She is a credit to our team and a role model to all of our Carers.”

We would also like to thank the Express and Star for giving Louise the recognition in the press this weekend. See press release and picture of our lovely Louise below.
