It Began as a Relay. It Became a Promise.

Bluebird Care StAlbans Took Part in National Alzheimers Society Pledge Relay

In September 2024, Bluebird Care St Albans proudly took part in the nationwide Alzheimer’s Society Fundraiser Pledge Relay - an active national campaign that saw a special pledge baton travel across the country through every Bluebird Care office, bringing teams together to raise funds and awareness for dementia care.

The £50,000 fundraising pledge, signed by Bluebird Care and our Celebrity Champion Dame Arlene Phillips, began its journey in Cornwall before making its way north to Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Along its route, each Bluebird Care office found unique ways to contribute and raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

When the baton arrived in St Albans from Bluebird Care Central Bedfordshire, our team celebrated its arrival with a lovely afternoon tea, serving homemade cakes and refreshments for our staff and customers. The event was a wonderful opportunity to come together, share stories, and reflect on the importance of supporting those affected by dementia in our community.

Our walk

“We care for so many people whose lives are touched by dementia, so it was easy for us to jump in and make a real effort to take part in this campaign and raise money for such a worthy cause,” said Israr, Franchise Owner of Bluebird Care St Albans.

The following day, our team set off on a 15-mile walk through Elstree & Borehamwood, proudly carrying the baton as we handed it over to our neighbours at Bluebird Care Barnet.

The event was a great experience for everyone involved - a celebration of compassion, teamwork, and our shared commitment to supporting people living with dementia.
