Bluebird Care Southampton is under management of Bernadette and Hugo Mills.

Bernadette and Hugo moved into the Newforest from London and in 2012 with their two boys and daughter alongside Pete the dog! Bernadette and Hugo then decided to set up the company, to deliver a range of  home care services enabling the elderly and vulnerable to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home whilst still receiving the care they need and deserve. Delivering the highest quality of home care and support is the Mills' absolute goal. In 2018 the Southampton branch got "Overall Good" CQC (Care Quality Commission) rating with one category being "Outstanding"!

Our teams are dedicated and work hard to ensure that our Bluebird families are supported and that these vulnerable individuals have the option to stay as long as possible at home rather than move to residential care. Our teams deliver daily care calls as well as full live in care services. Even in current Covid 19 times, our teams have not stopped! We have equipped them with all PPE possible to ensure our staff safety but also our customer safety.

Bernadette and Hugo Mills


Since 2012, Bernadette and Hugo’s Bluebird Care franchises have been delivering home care to enable customers to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. Delivering the highest quality of home care and assistance is their absolute goal and the team would be delighted to hear from anyone who is seeking support, from short daily visits to 24-hr care, for themselves or for a loved one, or who would simply like to talk to someone about the services we provide.
Bernadette and Hugo Mills live in the New Forest with their 3 children and Pete the dog. Having previously worked in finance in London, the couple took the lifestyle decision to live and work locally. Once the children were old enough, Bernadette began to look for a business they could run which would give them family flexibility but also a bit of a challenge. They were also very aware of the growing local (and national) demand for care at home. Starting their first Bluebird Care franchise in the New Forest in 2012 certainly didn’t disappoint!

Driven by a passion to deliver high-quality care, they subsequently opened offices in Southampton (2015), Totton (2016), and, in 2017, took over the Portsmouth franchise too. Yet it is not their intention to build the biggest care business, but rather to deliver the best service on a local level through staff who genuinely care. A key focus is establishing a joint partnership between all the teams in order to provide outstanding daily home care and live-in care.

Bernadette and Hugo are particularly enthusiastic about supporting the local communities in which they now operate. Taking part in community and charity activities is very important to them, and they are as ‘hands-on’ in appearing at local events as they are in ensuring their businesses deliver care of the highest standard. You may well have seen one or both of them on the back of a carnival float, dangling from a zip wire over Portsmouth harbour, running an inflatable obstacle course or serving tea and cake in a church hall.

Becky Taylor

Registered Care Manager

Becky Taylor is a very valued member of our team in Bluebird Care. Becky joined our Bluebird Care branch in Southampton after working for Bluebird Care in Winchester as a Care Coordinator. She moved over to run the Live in Care side of our group where she was responsible for rostering, recruiting and managing our Live in Care team. 

For the last 2 years, Becky has run the Portsmouth branch with great sucess and recently has accepted the position of Registered Care Manager in Southampton. Becky is a great asset to the business as her skillset ranges between managing her teams and keeping an overview of the day-to-day operations. Becky has full qualification with QCF Level 5 in Social and Health Care Management .

Jodie Hill

Care Supervisor

Jodie started with us this year and has quickly grown and assurted herself a stable position here at Bluebird Care. Jodie is a full-time mum as well as our Southampton Care Supervisor, she has great enthusiasm and energy which shows through her commitment to her work.  

Jodie is responsible for guiding you through the process of tailoring and your care wishes and needs, making sure that our customers get the best care!

Rose Marucci

Care Coordinator

Rose has 8 years of experience in care, she first started working in the care sector when she started her job at the Nuffield hospital where she worked on the ward catering for patients staying there. Rose has also worked in nursing home care, and out in the community.
Rose has progressed from Care Supervisor to Care Coordinator. Rose is now responsible for the customer care schedules and the rosters. If customers have any special requests regarding the care schedule or rosters, please email southampton@bluebird, and Rose will be happy to accommodate your wishes. 
During Rose’s spare time, she likes to spend time with family and friends and loves horses so enjoys spending time at the stables.

Kelly Wilmott

Lead Care Supervisor

Kelly has worked in the care industry for over 20 years  in private care homes and domiciliary care specialsing in dementia care. Before working for Bluebird Care, she oversaw a domiciliary unit in a retirement complex in hampshire.

 Kelly has completed her Level 3 NVQ in Social Care and is in the process of doing her NVQ Level 5. 

In her free time Kelly enjoys working out at the gym.

Sophie Cole

Care Supervisor

Sophie is the first person you will meet when you choose Bluebird Care as your care provider. She is responsible for guiding you through the process of tailoring your care wishes and needs and she works very closely with our Care Assistants to ensure you get the best care possible.

When Sophie is not working hard in the southampton office, she enjoys kickboxing and spending time with her son.
