Bluebird Care South Tyneside hopes to bring some joy to their customers by teaming up with JnK School of Dance

With VE day just around the corner, our plans for our Celebration VE Party have had to be cancelled as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.

Not to be deterred, Bluebird Care Newcastle & South Tyneside Director Kelly Haswell has come up with an alternative idea that will hopefully bring some much-needed joy and connection during these challenging times.

Kelly who also runs a Dance School for children ranging from 2yrs - 18yrs has enlisted the help of their students to each draw a picture of a rainbow as well as introducing themselves. The hope is that these will be delivered in person by each of our customers own care team over the course of the next week.

What Kelly had to say:

We know how important the mental wellbeing of our customers is to their overall health, and with this project we are hoping that the customers will reach back out the dancers and create a ‘Pen Pal’ friendship. We will have our care staff support our customers to either write, draw, or video message back, then hopefully when all of this is over, we can have our belated VE Day celebrating party and they can meet in person.

We will keep you update with how the connections blossom
