Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire Raise Awareness of Breast Cancer

October is breast cancer awareness month, and on 22 October Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire hosted a cake sale and raffle. The award-winning home care provider raised over £300 for the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign: Wear it Pink.

The cakes at the cake sale were made by members of the Bluebird Care team and their families. There were also some wonderful raffle prizes, some of which were donated by local businesses. These businesses included Thatchers, Whittards, Witney Business Centre and Upton’s Fishery (Burford).

Lead Care Supervisor, Jennifer Newton also donated chocolate, three bottles of prosecco, bath products and a jigsaw of Oxford. Care Assistant, Lynette, also donated some hand-knitted owls.

Jennifer Newton, Lead Care Supervisor at Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire, said:

We do not need magic to change the world, just a few people and some homemade cakes. We all have the power to imagine better.

The event was hosted in the reception of Witney Business centre, Windrush industrial park. Many Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire Care Assistants and their families joined for some socially distanced fun.

Robert Mezo, Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire’s Managing Director matched the amount raised by the raffle and cake sale. This resulted in a total of £325 raised in total for Wear it Pink. Robert said:

I would like to thank the team at Bluebird Care West Oxfordshire for putting in the time and effort to raise money for such a worthy cause. Many of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, and it is this type of effort that helps to raise awareness and vital funds that help research.
