Meet our team of care professionals

Robert Mezo
Director

Bluebird Care South Oxfordshire is led by Robert Mezo.

Robert started delivering homecare in South Oxfordshire  to help support customers in the area to receive homecare and support while remaining in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Delivering the highest quality of homecare and support is Robert’s absolute goal and the team would be delighted to hear from anyone who is seeking homecare for themselves or for a loved one, or would simply like to talk to someone about the services we provide.

Prior to starting Bluebird Care (South Oxfordshire), Robert worked in several industries delivering marketing, project management and market research needs to companies and industries spanned globally from the UK to Canada.

Robert’s responsible for the overall day to day running of the business and his primary responsibilities are to ensure that quality is embedded in everything Bluebird Care delivers whilst developing the business to the advantage of all South Oxfordshire communities.

In Robert’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and can occasionally be seen running but it’s usually after his young children!

Charlene Chewings
Registered Care Manager

I have been working for Bluebird Care since January 2016, with my role being a Supervisor. Before starting with Bluebird Care I had 6 years’ experience in various care settings.

I’m very passionate about my job, I enjoy the daily challenges this role brings and work well as part of the team. I also provide support to the senior management team. I’m confident within my job role due to the experience and support I have received within Bluebird Care.  I love my job knowing that I contribute to customers being able to stay in their own homes promoting their independence, as well as supporting the team to deliver this service.

Michelle Field
Care Manager

Prior to care I worked in retail. Not really knowing what I wanted to do when leaving school, retail seemed like the best option for me at the time. I enjoyed it but I went home feeling deflated, did I really see a career doing something I wasn’t excited about?

So, I left to try a few other things then started a family. After maternity leave I needed to work somewhere that offered flexible hours to suit me and my new family. That’s when I started caring.

I’ve now worked in the Care sector for 10 years, and 7 of those have been with Bluebird Care. I started my career with Bluebird as a Care Assistant working part-time at evenings and weekends.

Today I am the Care Manager for South Oxfordshire, and honestly, I can’t imagine working anywhere else. The customers, staff and management are all fantastic and we work so well together as a team.

Now I go home knowing that I’m making a difference.

Caring isn’t just a ‘job’ it’s a vocation, and it’s where I’m meant to be.

Jo Smith
Live-In Care Manager

My career with Bluebird started in 2014. After working in a family run residential care setting where senior roles were taken for the foreseeable future, I wanted an employer who offered progression and that is what I got! My roles have included Carer, Support Supervisor, Supervisor and now Live-in Care Manager

I am the point of contact for our live in service, dealing with queries, concerns and requests.  I enjoy getting to know our customers as individuals and their needs and working with the live in care team to ensure they receive the care that they require to enable them to live in their own homes where they feel comfortable and the care is focused on them.

I thoroughly enjoy my job, it’s more often than not fast paced, challenging and no two days are ever the same.

Irene Hooton
Care Coordinator

I have been working for Bluebird care since March 2017. I joined as a carer and was promoted to support supervisor at the end of 2017 and have recently been promoted to care coordinator. I am proud to work with Bluebird Care as they have an excellent training, and the teamwork and backup is amazing. I enjoy delivering care to our customers, keeping them safe and happy in their own home surrounded by their own possessions, family, and friends.
