Supervisor Sam Gets Even Craftier

Miss Sam Brown, the Bluebird Care Field Supervisor, has started her own production line of twiddle blankets in her free time.

When not at work maintaining the high standards of our service, Sam has recently taken to the mass production of twiddle blankets, which can go a long way to help people live well with dementia by reducing restlessness.

After the Mk.1 Twiddle Blanket has continued to be so well received, Sam was spurred on to make sure that our other customers could also share in the fun, creating a further 29 blankets whilst on annual leave.

Sam's daughter helped with the blankets and she thinks they are a great way for the younger generation to give something back to the older members of the community and possibly learn a little bit about dementia along the way.  Someone with dementia might make a child feel frightened, but if the child knew they could help them out then it doesn't seem so scary after all.

Dementia now affects 1 in 3 of the over-65s, (850,000 and counting in the UK) and the more people that have at least a basic understanding of it, the easier it is for those people to live well with the disease.

And of course, being blankets, they will also help to keep people warm!
