Bluebird Care rated 'outstanding' for its level of care!

An award-winning Shropshire Care Company has been rated outstanding for its care services and ‘good’ across the board following a robust inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC, the independent regulator for health and social care in England, visited Bluebird Care, based in Shrewsbury, and recently published its annual report, which praised the company for its care and several unique initiatives. The company has maintained it’s good rating since its last inspection in 2016.

Bluebird Care Director said they were ‘thrilled’ with the rating. “The level of care we offer is what is at the heart of the company and what matters most to us. It’s fantastic that the inspectors found our carers so competent and good at what they do. We could not be more chuffed that the level of care we offer has been rated outstanding.” Bluebird Care provides individually-tailored at-home care to people living in Shrewsbury, Church Stretton, Oswestry and the surrounding areas and was found by inspectors to provide safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care.

The report found that customers were treated with “dignity and respect” and were encouraged to maintain their independence as much as they were able to. “I am immensely proud of our fantastic results. We gained an overall rating of ‘Good’ but were rated ‘Outstanding’ for our caring and the report was very complimentary of our care practices and staff which is everything we could hope for. Through any challenges, our care staff always go the extra mile, coming in on days off and covering extra shifts when needed and standards have not slipped which speaks volumes of the staff we have. I am proud to work with each and every one of our care staff and very proud to work for Bluebird Care.”

Severn Stride

On the 9th September Sam, Stacy, Ian & Colin took part in the Severn Stride to raise funds and awareness for the Severn Hospice, our chosen charity for this year.  Over the years we have had the privilege to work alongside nurses and other staff whilst delivering vital care and support in our local community. Many of our customer's have either used The Severn Hospice facilities or have had services provided directly to them. We have chosen to support The Severn Hospice due to it being a local charity close to our staff and customer's hearts.

Superhero Day 2017!

On friday 5th May we supported Free Radio's new charity cash for kids! We wanted to make a difference to the lives of children living across the West Midlands who are finding life tough. They could be living in poverty, with an illness or disability or be subject to neglect or abuse, so that's exactly why we supported Cash for Kids! We had a fantastic day raising awareness and fundraising and we cannot wait to support this charity again next year!

Welcome to the team Laura!

Laura started Blueburd Care in January 2017 to cover maternity leave. She is very friendly and cares very much about helping people. Laura will be the Supervisor for Shrewsbury covering Daryl's maternity leave. She is proving to be a fantastic team member and we are very excited to have Laura on board!

Happy New Year 2017!

January has long been known as ‘the most depressing month’ – but this Monday has become known as the most depressing day in the whole year as people come down from Christmas and the weather is still dark and cold.
So for the third year running, we have taken an unusual step of trying to cheer up every one of our customers across the county on this day - known as 'Blue Monday' - by hand-delivering bouquets of flowers.

Elf Day 2016!

On 9th December 2016 we supported The Alzheimer's Society as they took part in ELF DAY to offer support and raise awareness of dementia.
Activities were held at its head offices in Bayston Hill and offices on Albion Hill in Oswestry town centre, as well as running a special session at the Oak Meadow Primary School in Bayston Hill. Carers and staff swapped their uniforms for Elf outfits as they undertook various tasks including dementia awareness sessions with HR Manager Ceri Eades at the school, also in their Oswestry office, as well as a quiz, colouring competitions, ‘Elf & Safety’ Training and we had a great afternoon selling cakes.
Director of Care, Claire Flavell, said: “We are really throwing ourselves behind this fun Christmassy event at both offices, but there’s a very serious message behind it that we feel a responsibility to the community to spread the word about. Christmas can be a very lonely time for families living with dementia. It can affect people of all ages, although it is more common in the elderly.
“It isn’t just extremely isolating for people suffering with the illness, but can also be incredibly difficult for their families. This is why we are holding a dementia awareness session in the local primary school so we can begin helping young people understand what they can do to help their loves ones. Education about what people can do to help really can transform lives.

Male Care Team

Traditionally, there are more women working in care – but we have some fantastic male carers working at Bluebird Care. We currently employ around 10 male carers and we want to thank them for the brilliant and caring job they are doing in tailoring their care to each individual and their needs and wants. We have received great feedback from customers who are looked after by the boys and we want to ensure all our customers and their families know that although there may be less males in our teams – they are doing an equally brilliant job as the ladies – keep up the good work!!

Sammie Won !

Sammie won last night at the SBC Training awards 2016. We are so very proud of Sammie, she won an award for 'Outstanding Achiever in Business Administration and Law' for her advanced apprenticeship she completed with us. Sammie is such a hard worker and deserved this recognition. Well done Sammie!!
