Our memories from 2019 and hopes for 2020

Well, 2019 has been a fabulous year for us – our domiciliary teams in Shrewsbury, Oswestry, and Church Stretton are going strong with staff both old and new. We’ve welcomed 6 new staff to our Oswestry team, including Austin and Jodie. Our Shrewsbury team has benefited from 18 new care assistants, amongst them Stephanie and George, who starred so fabulously in our international Men’s day video! And finally Church Stretton has welcomed Sarah and Jo, pictured with her care certificate.

In the office we’ve also had a rejig of roles – Teresa, Wendy and Aleksandra have joined the office staff as weekend on call staff,  Laura Allen became our Lead Supervisor, Rachel Evans filled the new role of PR and marketing officer and Lauren Adams also moved away from her role as care assistant to become our Care supervisor in Oswestry. And as a lovely return to work, Sammi came back from maternity leave! Congratulations Sammi!

Our year has also been filled with celebrations – in the summer our live in care service turned one, which was an amazing feat for the business and lead to some amazing discussions – Claire Matthews, one of our live in care assistants, wrote her first Blog about why she is a care assistant which Shropshire Partners in Care now uses as part of their recruitment Campaign!

We’ve also been very proudly celebrating our long service staff in November– those who have been with us between 5 and 10 years came into the office for an afternoon of merriment, memories, and cake! It was a lovely few hours reminiscing the many customers that we’ve seen in our time and also showing our appreciation for those who have stayed with us for so long.

We also very proudly took home the Regional Great British Care Home Care Team award. This award was presented to the team who were able to best demonstrate a shared vision and agreed goals. Out of 8 teams nominated we took home the award from Birmingham- a success we’re really proud of!

As for our hopes for the new year- we’re continuing our recruitment campaign in the hopes of getting care to more people in Shropshire, alongside marketing a lot more so that we can bring more fabulous care to customers.

We’ll be heading to Birmingham again for the national finals of the Great British Care awards next year – wish us luck!

On a more personal level our team would love to be involved in fundraising events so as to spread more joy around the county – events that we have our eye on include the dragon boat race in Shrewsbury and the Oswestry parade alongside many more!

We look forward to sharing our adventures in care with you – on behalf of all of us, happy new Year!
