Lynsey Howland, Registered Care Manager

Lynsey's route into care came via a background in working with children and young people, an origin that has shaped the empathy, patience and developmental instinct she brings to everything she does at Bluebird Care. She joined the Sheffield branch initially as a trainer, a role that gave her an immediate and thorough grounding in the standards Bluebird Care sets for itself. From there, Lynsey progressed to Deputy Care Manager and then Registered Care Manager at Sheffield, before taking on the additional responsibility of dual registration at the Chesterfield & NE Derbyshire branch, a reflection of the confidence and trust the organisation places in her. In her role, Lynsey is responsible for quality monitoring and the implementation of strategies that deliver high-quality, safe and effective home care to every customer. She works closely with both management teams to ensure they have the training, development and support needed to grow as leaders, because Lynsey understands that a well-supported team delivers better care. Her approach is both rigorous and human, exacting on standards, but always mindful of the people behind the care.

Sarah James, Deputy Care Manager

Sarah's story at Bluebird Care is one of the most compelling examples of what is possible when talent and drive are given the right environment to grow. She joined as a Care Assistant, her first ever role in the care industry, and from that starting point, built a career that has taken her to the heart of the Sheffield management team. Sarah quickly mastered the skills required to deliver premium quality care, and went on to support some of Bluebird Care Sheffield's most specialised and complex packages. That experience, combined with a natural ability to guide and support colleagues, led to her appointment as Care Supervisor, and soon after, as Deputy Care Manager. In her current role, Sarah provides oversight of the Sheffield management team, supports staff through regular performance reviews, and serves as Sheffield's Safeguarding Lead — taking the lead on any complaints or incidents with the care and professionalism both the team and customers deserve. Sarah's journey from first-time care assistant to deputy manager speaks for itself. She is a genuine example of the culture Bluebird Care Sheffield has worked hard to build.

Julie Brittain, Care Planner

If there is one person who embodies the history of Bluebird Care Sheffield, it is Julie. She was among the very first members of the Sheffield care team, present at the very beginning of the branch's story, and has remained a cornerstone of the organisation ever since. Having occupied many roles across her time with Bluebird Care, Julie is now responsible for care enquiries and reviews, working closely with customers and families to ensure care arrangements are right and remain right as needs evolve. She continues to work closely with the directors and provides flexible, dependable support across the wider management team whenever it is needed. Julie is known for her principled approach: she prioritises high-quality care and believes in only committing to what can genuinely be delivered well. She is not shy about pitching in wherever she is needed, and holds firmly to the view that a rising tide lifts all ships, a philosophy that has served Bluebird Care Sheffield very well over the years.

Toni Green, Recruiter

Toni joined Bluebird Care Sheffield with a wealth of recruitment experience already behind her, specifically within the care industry, which means she came equipped not only with process knowledge, but with a real understanding of the particular challenges and qualities that great care recruitment demands. She knows that she is often the very first point of contact a new team member will have with Bluebird Care, and she takes that responsibility seriously. Toni is consistently and warmly complimented for her welcoming manner and her ability to put people at ease from the very first conversation an ability that helps ensure the right people choose to join and stay. Alongside her front-facing recruitment work, Toni is responsible for maintaining and updating employee recruitment files, bringing the same diligence and attention to detail to compliance as she does to candidate relationships

David 'Dave' Tagg, Lead Care Coordinator

Dave came to Bluebird Care after what he himself would probably describe as an interesting journey, a rich and varied career history across many industries, with his most recent chapter spent working in a care home. That hands-on care experience, combined with his broader perspective, makes him an unusually well-rounded Lead Care Coordinator. In a role that sits at the operational heart of the branch, managing rosters, matching customers with care experts, and keeping the day-to-day running of care seamlessly on track, Dave's blend of humour, reliability and steadfast support to both the management and care teams has been one of the reasons Sheffield's management team has remained so stable for so many years. He is, as those who work with him will readily confirm, one of the good ones.

Emma Biggin, Care Coordinator

Emma came to the coordinator role from within, having first joined Bluebird Care as a member of the care team. That beginning matters, because it means Emma has sat in the shoes of the people she now supports and schedules. She approaches rostering with a balance and an awareness that can only come from having been out in the community, doing the visits. Having made the move into coordination, Emma has thrown herself into the learning curve that the management side of care presents, quickly developing her knowledge of the systems and processes involved, and never hesitating to seek guidance or support when she needs it. It is exactly the right approach, and the team is all the better for it.

Julie Allen, Lead Care Supervisor

Julie started as a member of the Bluebird Care care team, visiting customers, building relationships, and learning what outstanding home care really looks like from the ground up. Over time, her natural instinct for supporting and guiding others became apparent, and she grew into a supervisory role that felt like a perfect fit. As Lead Care Supervisor, Julie brings both the authority of her experience and the authenticity of someone who has done the work herself. She approaches every challenge as a learning opportunity, and her organisational instincts have made her the natural anchor of the Sheffield supervisory team. She leads with kindness, and her team knows it.

Debra Rose, Care Supervisor (Days)

Debra came to Bluebird Care with a strong background in supporting people with learning difficulties, a specialism that has enriched the whole team's approach and given customers with more complex needs access to truly experienced, confident care. Debra is known for a quality that is both rare and enormously valuable in a care supervisor: the ability to be simultaneously a shoulder to cry on and a relentless advocate for getting people the support they need. Her dry wit is legendary in the team, and her tenacious pursuit of the right outcome for customers and colleagues alike means things get done, warmly, but thoroughly.

Savannah Higginbottom, Care Supervisor (Days)

Savannah is one of the newer members of the Sheffield management team, bringing with her previous care industry experience and a clear appetite to hit the ground running, which she has done from the very start. She has embraced Bluebird Care's processes with real enthusiasm, picking things up quickly and throwing herself into the team's ongoing transition to digital documentation. Savannah has been instrumental in helping the team adapt to new systems, and the energy and positivity she brings to that process, and to everything else, has been a genuine boost to the team around her.

Tina Dyson, Care Supervisor (Nights)

Tina has been part of the Bluebird Care family for several years, and her decision to move into a night care supervisory role has brought the benefits of that accumulated experience to one of the most important and often undersung parts of the service. She supports night shift care staff with the same warmth and knowledge she has always brought to the team, and she has brought something extra too. Tina is a British Sign Language user, and has shared that skill generously with colleagues, offering sessions to help the team learn the basics of BSL. It is the kind of thoughtful, inclusive contribution that quietly makes a team stronger.

Giovanna Forster-Reay, Care Supervisor (Nights)

Giovanna began her Bluebird Care journey as a member of the night care visiting team, building her care skills and experience on the ground before moving into a supervisory role that has allowed her to develop in new directions. As a Night Care Supervisor, Giovanna is developing her expertise in care plan management alongside her skills in supporting and guiding the care team through the particular demands of night-time care. She is a thoughtful, focused member of the management team, and her progress has been clear to everyone around her.

Zoe Slingsby, Care Supervisor (Nights)

Zoe came up through the care team, moving into a Night Care Supervisor role with a clear sense of what she wanted to develop: her skills in care plan management and in supporting and guiding the people she works alongside. Those who work with Zoe quickly discover that she meets every challenge, and there are always challenges in night care, with a combination of humour and unbridled energy that is genuinely infectious. She is exactly the kind of person you want on your team when the going gets tough, and the customers and colleagues who encounter her are better for it.
