Bluebird Care working with Dementia Friends

Bluebird Care (Rother & Hastings) is working with Dementia Friends...

After opening our new Bluebird Care (Rother & Hastings) office in Rye, we were contacted by Daliea Redman our local Dementia Champion. The newly formed Rye & District Action Alliance for Dementia was only launched recently, and a few members of the Bluebird Care team went along to offer their support. We discussed the huge impact Dementia has on individuals lives and other members of their families. This then led to further discussion over how important it was for carers to have an understanding of Dementia, and we made arrangements for Daliea to come and talk to members our staff team.
 
Unfortunately, Daliea was not able to make this date so, Dawn, manager for Strand Court who is also a Local Dementia Champion stepped in and saved the day.

Dawn was great, she talked to our staff team and by the end of the day everyone walked away understanding that its individuals feeling that really matters and not necessarily what they do or do not remember.
 
We finished the afternoon with a general discussion and we now have a couple of members of our staff who want to become recognised Dementia friends themselves.
