March 26th is National Epilepsy day and making a difference to the lives of those living with the condition is something that is close to our hearts here at Bluebird Care Rother & Hastings.

Epilepsy affects over 500,000 people in the UK and in, in addition to a number of other risks its most severe cases can cause multiple fits that mean someone can be stuck indoors, afraid or embarrassed to go outside.

As well as drawing our raffle for Young Epilepsy on Facebook Live at 11am, we wanted to share with you a little bit about customer Jamie, who we support.

Jamie is the young age of 22 and has had epilepsy since he was knocked over by a car at the age of 14 whilst on a dark country lane.

Jamie lives with his nan and experiences seizures during the night. We provide support during this time because his nan is not able to support him with his seizures, so we are there to make sure he is ok in the event of a seizure.

Despite his epilepsy, Jamie is a happy and cheerful person who loves a laugh, playing XBOX and watching films. As well as overnight support, we have also accompanied him on holiday for two weeks to Cyprus!

Care Manager Jess explained:
A lot of our customers have epilepsy and our goal in supporting National Epilepsy Day is to raise awareness of the condition as well as funds to help make a difference where we can.

I am proud that we have been able to share Jamie's story as he is such a wonderful young man and I know our Care Assistants are very fond of the time they spend with him.
