As part of our #MakeADifference campaign, we recently visited customer Elizabeth who lives in Hastings and heard her story along with the difference that the support our team give makes.

This is the first of a two part piece, with the second including a short video testimonial.

Elizabeth has lived in her current house for over 40 years. She was head teacher in the village school in Bodium for over 18 years and explained that she is 'queen of the lists!'.

Elizabeth is a big part of the local community and even taught the children of the previous manager for our office! She has always been a very independent person and Elizabeth explained that she was very hesitant about care arrangements at the beginning.

After three months respite support in Farningham, Elizabeth was desperate to come home because she longed to spend time back in her garden and with her lovely dog who is also her friend.

The support we provide includes domestic duties around the home and regular, weekly trips out to garden centres, shopping malls and often for tea & cake. Some recent trips have included time at Pashley Manor Gardens and Blakbrooks Garden Centre.

Elizabeth explained that:
The team from Bluebird Care certainly do make a difference as they enable me to stay at home, where I am happy and comfortable, rather than needing to live somewhere else.

I enjoy my arts, crafts and gardening and with the regular Care Assistants who visit me I really can relax as I know everything will be done right.

I was hardly able to go out one winter and my Care Assistants were the only people that I saw. Without them, I would have seen no one!

As well as my regular Care Assistants being very helpful, the office team are great and I like the ethos of Bluebird Care. This is something that really
differentiates Bluebird Care and they really treat me like a friend.
Care Supervisor Jess explained:
I used to be a regular Care Assistant for Elizabeth before joining the office team and it was a delight to support her each week.

Every time I visited I learn something and Elizabeth really encouraged us Care Assistants to continue developing and investing in themselves.

Now I am in the office, I visit Elizabeth when I can and it was lovely to do so recently to hear more about her story!
