We have a comprehensive training programme for our team of incredible Care Assistants and this week our local nursing team from Nutricia visited to deliver some training on PEG feeding.
We have a comprehensive training programme for our team of incredible Care Assistants and this week our local nursing team from Nutricia visited to deliver some training on PEG feeding.PEG feeding is where a tube is fed into a person’s stomach in order that food and medication can be delivered directly. It is used when a means of oral feeding is inadequate and a lifeline to those who use it.
We organised the training after one of our customers required a PEG feeding tube and asked if we could assist with it. Because it is such a specialist skill, we needed to arrange some training for the key staff involved.
The training staff received means that our customer can now remain at home for longer whilst being supported by their regular, familiar Care Assistants.
It is also a very good skill for our staff to have as supporting with a PEG feed is a specialist intervention.
We are proud to provide the training that we do and seek to go above and beyond in every way possible for our customers to help them remain at home.
