Bluebird Care Rochdale took part in their leg of the national pledge to raise £50000 for the Alzheimer's Society.
Brenda was the first customer one of our Director's, John, visited (courtesy of our Eskuta) on our leg of the pledge. Brenda told him she had lived in her house for 50 years. John asked where she was from and when she said Collyhurst he asked her which school she went to. "St Malachy's" she replied.
"A good Catholic girl" was John's response as it was the school his mum went to. Brenda came alive and spoke about her days at the school.
Later that day John was speaking to his mum and later her brother about it and it became apparent that Brenda would have been in the same school year as his late dear Auntie Mary. The Uncle then sent a photo that was shared with Brenda's family.
Brenda was shown the photo and again went back to those days as she had been selected to be an attendant,a great honour, to the May Queen who is in the centre of the photo. She recalled the young girl's name to be O'Rourke.
Auntie Mary is third from the right on the third row, Brenda is the young lady third from the right on the row in front.
We make sure that Brenda and all our customers spend time in their happy place.
