Meet our team of care professionals

Beryl Keogh
Owner

Our Joint Owner Beryl, is a compassionate and experienced professional who has dedicated half her lifetime to working in vulnerable person environments. Beryl's journey within the Adult Care Sector began when her family returned to the UK in early 2013 after spending numerous years overseas. Prior to that, while raising her family, Beryl primarily worked in children's education, often focusing on Special Educational Needs (SEN). As a military family, they experienced frequent relocations, resulting in Beryl moving to 13 different homes in 23 years.

Beryl takes immense joy in her role as a mother, even as her two sons have grown into adulthood. Whenever they visit, she can't help but shower them with the love and care she's always had for them. Born in Birch Hill Hospital, Rochdale, Beryl has a deep-rooted connection to her hometown. Being back home has brought her closer to her family and a large network of long-standing and loyal friends, creating a strong sense of community.

One of the highlights of Beryl's life is spending time with her granddaughter, cherishing precious moments and creating lasting memories. When the opportunity arises, she enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures. As for her TV preferences, Beryl finds delight in watching Northern soaps, finding comfort in the familiar and relatable stories they portray.

With her extensive experience, genuine care, and love for her community, Beryl is a valuable asset in the Care Sector. Her commitment to vulnerable individuals and her ability to understand their unique needs make her an invaluable member of any team. Beryl's journey has shaped her into a compassionate and dedicated carer, and she continues to make a positive impact in the lives of those she serves.

John Keogh

Having served in numerous areas, John is thrilled to be back in his hometown, reconnecting with old acquaintances from school and his youth. Football is another passion of John's, although he considers himself mostly retired. He still manages to enjoy playing a few times a week, if his granddaughter isn't keeping him wrapped around her finger.

Returning to his hometown has ignited John's excitement to deliver excellent service to his customers and contribute to the broader team. His enthusiasm and diverse range of interests highlight his well-rounded character and commitment to making a positive impact in his community.

Overall, John's experiences and passions demonstrate his dedication to serving others, spreading awareness, and making a difference in the lives of those around him.

Lauren Harker
Office Administrator

I recently began working for Bluebird Care Rochdale on an Office Administration Apprenticeship, whilst studying for my Maths GCSE with Rochdale Training Association.

I like to spend time with my boyfriend, friends, family and pets. It's my favourite thing to do aside from listening to 80s music, watching old movies such as Goodfellas and the Godfather and soaking up as much history knowledge as I can (I often get called an old soul).

I passed my driving test in May 2023 (first time) which is a huge achievement for me and has made me realise I can do anything I set my mind to.

I feel like I've immediately fit in with my lovely co-workers, and this helps me maintain a positive attitude at work every day. My confidence has also shot up - I used to be terrified of making phone calls but I've now overcome my fear thanks to the help of my colleagues who have believed in me since the beginning. I applied for this job as an opportunity to broaden my skills and experience life behind the scenes of a care company. This way I can see it from different angles and get a better understanding of how a business is run, in a caring and effective way.

Her knowledge and experience in the industry are invaluable assets that contribute to the team's success. What is the biggest challenge of being a Registered Care Manager?

Day to day running the business in the face of a pandemic, working under unprecedented times. Maintaining consistency with quality care and continuity of care when we are challenged with staffing issues because of school closure and isolation rules.

What advice do you have for Care Staff who aspire to care management roles in the future?

Be prepared to wear several different hats daily, remain calm and fair treating people with dignity and respect. Keep up to date with changes in the Sector and with Employment Law.

What do you do in your spare time to relax / unwind, what is at the top of your bucket list?

I unwind by going to the gym I also like reading and would love one day to live by the coast.

I worked in care before I came to Bluebird, but I have been treated the best and always know I have support and help when needed.

My interests are Fashion, makeup, and hairdressing. I have always been a very caring person towards everyone but especially the elderly. I always said to my mum "can we help that old man with his shopping." I have always been very passionate about care.

I like working for Bluebird Care as it is opening my eyes to more opportunities in the care industry, I was a carer for three years but I wasn't confident enough until I got offered the Care Co-ordinator job role.
