Bluebird Care Richmond & Twickenham have launched a programme to encourage every member of staff to become a Dementia Friend.

Dementia Friends is a national social movement led by the Alzheimers Society, designed to make people aware of the issues affecting people living with dementia, their families and friends. Our own in house Dementia Friend champion is leading the information sessions: they’ve been really well received and so far we’ve enrolled 12 new friends – well on our way to our target.

Director of Bluebird Care Richmond & Twickenham, Maria Leonard, said:

We’re committed to improving the quality of life for everyone that we work with. Our care workers are all trained to support people living with dementia but we believe that it’s important for everyone who works with us to be aware of the wider issues affecting people living with dementia, their family and friends. The Dementia Friends session is a great, fun way to improve understanding and wearing the Dementia Friends ‘forget me not’ badge reassures people in the community that they have a concerned friend nearby.”
