Bluebird Care Reigate is supporting Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week 2016 from 20-26 March.

Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week is run by the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) and runs with a different theme each year. This year’s theme is:

‘My Friends, My Community – what it means to be included’

The week aims to celebrate people with Down’s syndrome, of all ages, who are part of our communities. The aim is to raise awareness of the condition and to encourage our wider communities to be appropriately inclusive, and offer those in our community the opportunity to participate fully as and when they wish with the right support. When children and adults with Down’s syndrome are given opportunities to participate, the whole community benefits.

Commenting, Kate Barry, Director of Bluebird Care Reigate said:

We are thrilled to be supporting Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week and helping to raise awareness of the condition and celebrate inclusion in our local community. We hope that supporting this campaign will help to break down barriers, to stop stereotyping and to provide more opportunities for children and adults with Down’s syndrome in our area.”
