Bluebird Care launches event to connect people to stay in the community longer

Award winning care at home provider, Bluebird Care has been inspired by one of its customers to organise an event to connect those over 65 to services that will allow them to stay in the community longer. For the last 12 months, Bluebird Care has been sponsoring “Friendship” cafes to tackle isolation in the community. The event allows those over 65, to attend a local cafĂ©, meet new friends, provide interaction and a sense of belonging in the community.  It was at one of these coffee mornings, earlier this year, that the feedback to provide a one-stop shop for services for those over 65 to stay in the community was hatched.

Inspired by the feedback, the team at Bluebird Care, in partnership with other local organisations went about creating a not-for profit event titled “Connected Care”.  With organisations such as Age(UK), Berkshire Fire, and Dementia Friends all participating, the event is already bringing a buzz in the local community.

The event is to be held on 17thOctober 2018 at Charvil Village Parish Hall from 14:00 – 16:00 is free to all. With over 15 community organisations confirmed to participate it will be a lovely event to provide valuable information to the over 65s in the Borough of Wokingham.

With complimentary tea and cakes being provided the event aims to be the first of many to tackle isolation within the elderly in our local community.
