Celebrating Kindness and Connection This Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love in all its forms. For us, that means recognising the everyday moments of companionship, conversation and care that make such a difference in people’s lives. Here we share one of the heartwarming stories from our team.

Spreading Kindness and Connection This Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic gestures — it’s about connection, companionship and feeling valued. Across Reading, Wokingham, Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell, our carers have been sharing small but meaningful moments of kindness with the people they support at home.

Throughout the week, thoughtful gifts and flowers have been delivered, but it’s the conversations and shared reflections that have truly captured the spirit of the occasion.

When customers were asked what makes them feel cared for, the answers were beautifully simple:

“Someone sitting with me.”
“Company.”

These words are a powerful reminder that care is often defined by presence rather than presents.

Jeanette, one of our longest-standing Care Experts, has been married for 43 years. When asked about the secret to a long and happy marriage, she smiled and said:

“Patience,” she laughed.

Moments like these reflect what Valentine’s Day really means in care — not grand gestures, but genuine human connection.

Rebecca Hawkins, Managing Director, shared:

Days like Valentine’s Day highlight something we see every single day in care — that feeling valued and connected matters enormously to wellbeing. For many of the people we support, it is not about big gestures. It is about knowing someone will visit, take the time to sit, listen and share a moment with them. Our carers understand how much these interactions mean. A simple conversation, a shared memory or a small act of kindness can have a profound impact.

Across our communities, our team continues to ensure customers feel remembered, appreciated and supported — not just on Valentine’s Day, but every day.

Because at the heart of care is kindness, connection and the relationships that enrich everyday life.
