At Bluebird Care Plymouth & South Hams, we are passionate about supporting people living with dementia and helping families, friends and communities better understand the challenges dementia can bring.
We are delighted to be offering local people the opportunity to experience our Dementia Experience Bus, an immersive and thought-provoking activity designed to give participants an insight into some of the everyday challenges that people living with dementia may face.
Whether you are caring for a loved one, concerned about a family member, work with older people, own a local business or simply want to better understand dementia, we would love to welcome you.

What Is The Dementia Experience Bus?
The Dementia Experience Bus is a specially designed interactive experience that helps participants gain a greater understanding of some of the physical, sensory and cognitive challenges experienced by people living with dementia.
By taking part, visitors are invited to complete a series of everyday tasks whilst experiencing altered sensory perception. The experience can help people appreciate how confusing, frustrating and overwhelming everyday situations may become for someone living with dementia.
While no simulation can fully recreate dementia, many participants tell us the experience helps them develop a deeper understanding, greater empathy and a new perspective on the condition.
What Should I Expect?
Your visit will typically take around 20 minutes.
During your visit you will:
- Receive a brief introduction from our team
- Take part in the interactive simulation experience
- Learn about the impact dementia can have on everyday life
- Have an opportunity to discuss your experience afterwards
- Discover local support and resources available within our community
Our friendly team will be on hand throughout to answer questions and provide information.
