Peterborough Dementia Resource Centre

The Dementia Resource Centre in Peterborough is an important local hub for people affected by dementia, their families and carers.

Forget Me Not Café

The Forget Me Not Café at the Dementia Resource Centre provides a welcoming place for people to meet, enjoy refreshments and spend time with others.

The current timetable lists the café as open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with no booking required and everyone welcome.

It can provide an informal opportunity for people living with dementia and their carers to get out, meet others and enjoy some social time.

Carers Support Group

Caring for someone living with dementia can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging. Having somewhere to talk to people who understand can make a real difference.

The Alzheimer's Society Carers Support Group in Peterborough provides an opportunity for carers to meet others, share experiences, ask questions and access information in a supportive environment.

The group currently meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2pm–3.30pm at the Dementia Resource Centre.

Ladies Think and Share

The Dementia Resource Centre also hosts Ladies Think and Share, a peer support group for women living with dementia.

Dementia support around Oundle

There are a number of community activities and organisations around Oundle and the surrounding villages that can help older people stay connected and involved in their local community.

Oundle community groups and activities

Community connection can be particularly valuable for someone living with dementia, helping people maintain familiar routines, social connections and interests.

Love Oundle provides information about local activities and events, including community cafés, social groups and activities for older residents.

For example, the No.1 Thursday Drop In Community Café at Oundle Baptist Church is a free, friendly community café held on Thursdays from 10.30am–12.30pm. It offers a welcoming place to meet others, enjoy a cup of tea and catch up with friends.

There is also a Craft & Chat Group at Stronglands Court in Oundle for people aged 65+ or those living with a long-term disability. The group provides materials and instruction for a different craft project each month and is free to attend.

These aren't dementia-specific services, but community activities can provide valuable opportunities for social connection and help people remain engaged with the community around them.

Local communities also organise events to raise awareness and provide information about dementia.
