Leading the fight against dementia is a serious business, but there’s no reason why we can’t have fun along the way.

That’s the thinking behind Elf Day, an Alzheimer’s Society fundraising initiative that has really taken off since we launched it a few years ago.

Last year hundreds of schools, businesses and friends across the country got involved…and this year we’re hoping to build on that success.

So what is Elf Day? Put simply, it’s an opportunity for people to get together and have fun, whilst raising money that will help us to support those living with dementia today, and work towards a cure for tomorrow.

This year’s ‘official’ Elf Day is on Friday, December 7, but participants can host an event on any day during December.

It’s all about ‘unleashing your inner Elf’ by dressing up in green and red – at work, in school or with friends – and making a donation to Alzheimer’s Society.

When it comes to funky festive clothing, there’s plenty of choice on our Elf Day website… or you can make your own.

If fancy dress isn’t your thing, you can still get involved in a variety of ways, from baking and selling festive treats to organising festive events such as movie nights or quizzes.

Our free Elf Day fundraising packs tell you all you need to know. Just search for Elf Day and Alzheimer’s Society or visit www.alzheimers.org.uk/elfday

The North East led the way for last year’s Elf Day, raising more money than any other region in the UK.

I’d love us to repeat that success – so come on all you Northumberland folk, get behind the cause. There’s snow better way to raise money to help end dementia!
