Visit from Ruby from Salcey Forest - Forestry England

Community

At Bluebird Care, we love working collaboratively with local organisations to help improve the support available for people living with dementia and their families.

On Thursday 24th July, we were delighted to welcome Ruby from Forestry England to our Memory Lane Café.  Ruby is the Active Forest Coordinator at Salcey Forest and is developing a brand-new dementia-friendly walking programme. The aim is to create enjoyable, welcoming walks that enable people living with dementia and those who support them to spend time together in nature, stay active, and connect with others.  This visit was a fantastic opportunity for our members to have their voices heard and to share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences so that the walks are shaped around what people living with dementia and their carers would genuinely value.

The first walk is taking place on Wednesday 9th September, from 10.30am - 12.30pm. This guided walk will begin and end at Grounds Cafe, with refreshments available at the end of the walk.  It is planned to be a gentle, accessible walk and the team at Salcey Forest - Forestry England plan to shape the future sessions through any feedback.

This is a free event but please reserve your place by calling 0300 067 4075 or emailing Salcey@forestryengland.uk
(A special parking flat rate fee of £3.80 will apply).
