Every Friday afternoon, something very special happens at the Abbey Centre in Northampton. From 1.30 to 3.30pm, the hall fills with warmth, laughter, shared memories, and new friendships. This is the Memory Lane Café, a weekly event hosted by Bluebird Care Northampton & Daventry, and it’s become a much-loved fixture for many in our local community.

The café is free to attend and open to anyone affected by dementia, along with their family members and carers. Whether you're navigating a recent diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or simply looking for a friendly place to connect with others who understand, Memory Lane Café offers a gentle and welcoming space.

Now in its sixth month, the café has grown into a supportive and joyful community. Regular attendees speak of how much they look forward to their Fridays — a chance to enjoy tea and cake, take part in music, games or crafts, and above all, to spend time with others in an environment of understanding and encouragement.

As one visitor recently said, "It’s the highlight of my week. We laugh, we share stories, and we never feel alone."

While we’re thrilled to have such a committed group of regulars, we’re always looking to welcome new faces. If you or someone you know is affected by dementia, or if you simply want to find out more, we warmly invite you to drop in and see what Memory Lane Café is all about. You don’t need to book or register — just come along, enjoy a cuppa, and experience the difference a caring community can make.
