Bluebird Care North Tyneside is looking for caring individuals that wish to start or develop a career in homecare.  Our team of Care Assistants come from a broad range of backgrounds all of which have joined Bluebird Care North Tyneside for varying reason. Here are a few of their stories:-
 
Informal Carer – Lesley was a carer for her life partner for over 10 years before she joined us a Care Assistant in October 2013.  Lesley wanted to formalise her experience once her informal care responsibilities had ended. She is now part of the Senior Care Assistant team. Lesley says;
I love my job and find it extremely rewarding.""
In Education – Fiona successfully completed a L2 Teaching Assistant qualification before she joined us in June 2015.  She went back to college to start a Level 3 qualification in September 2015 and has continued with her Care Assistant role around her studies.  Fiona would like to specialise in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour in the future.  Fiona feels the experience she is gaining will set her up for a long-term career in the Care Sector.
 
College graduate – Lucy joined the team in June 2015.  It was just before she successfully completed a Level 3 extended diploma in Health and Social Care. Lucy’s medium-term plan is to study nursing and long-term, she would like to work in an operating unit supporting babies.
 
Change of Career – Megan worked as a hairdresser for 4 years. During this time she also supported her grandparents. She found this experience to be extremely rewarding and decided to change her career path. Megan has been with the company since January 2015. Megan says;
I absolutely love being a Care Assistant and it is the best decision I have ever made.""
Retirement – Max After retirement, Max was looking for a new challenge.  Max was always told by others that he had a very caring nature. He joined us in 2014 as a Care Assistant and is now part of the Senior Care Assistant team. Max says;
I receive a lot of job satisfaction.  I thoroughly enjoy supporting customers live an independent life at home.""
 Evening & Weekend worker – Loreen works full time in another job during the week (9-5pm).  She joined the team in June 2015 and works early mornings, evening shift and alternative weekends. Loreen says;
As well as getting back into care work which I love and find very rewarding, the extra income is helping support my growing family.""
Career Progression – Julie joined the business as a Care Assistant in November 2012. This was just before the business officially opened. Julie was promoted to Field Care Supervisor in March 2015. Julie says;
You do not need to have any experience to start a career in care but you do need to be passionate about caring for others and delivering a first class service. There is a clear structured career path, so you can grow as a person.  I have successfully completed my L2 and 3 in Health & Social Care and I am currently in the middle of a L3 in Management. Bluebird Care North Tyneside really care about that their staff and ensure that we receive the right and the best training as well as on-going support.""
