Bluebird Care North Tyneside is supporting Carers Week 2017, an annual campaign raising awareness of caring from 12-18 June.

Carers Week highlights the challenges carers may face as well as the contributions they make to their community. The campaign is supported by individuals and organisations across the UK by promoting the importance of caring.

3 in 4 carers feel their caring role is not understood or even valued by their community, at Bluebird Care North Tyneside we hope to raise awareness of the support available to unpaid carers across North Tyneside Council area which includes Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Cullercoats, Monkseaton, Earsdon, Shiremoor, Backworth, North Shields, Wallsend, Killingworth, Burradon, Hazelrigg, Wideopen and Seaton Burn.

This year’s campaign hopes to build Carer Friendly Communities, supporting carers to look after their loved ones as well as recognising their own needs as an individual. Eight major charities have joined forces this year to encourage communities to register their events and show support in the lead up to Carers Week (12-18 June).

Julie McLellan, director of Bluebird Care North Tyneside, said:

Carers Week highlights the challenges carers can face and the support they might need, we are supporting these individuals and are happy to do what we can to help raise awareness of the unpaid carers in our community. We hope that by supporting this campaign it will provide help to those caring in our local area, and make them aware of the support that is available to them.
