Bluebird Care North Tyneside is led by Julie McLellan. Julie started delivering homecare in North Tyneside to help support customers in the area to receive homecare and support while remaining in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Delivering the highest quality of homecare and support is Julie’s absolute goal and the team would be delighted to hear from anyone who is seeking homecare for themselves or for a loved one, or would simply like to talk to someone about the services we provide.

Julie is passionate about providing the best quality care and ensuring that the care delivered meets all the needs of the customer and their families.
I have many years' experience in the care sector, I started my career as a support worker, this entailed supporting people with learning disabilities in their own homes, I was then promoted as a support broker, this entailed managing people’s personal budgets and the recruitment of personal assistants, I was then promoted as deputy manager where I managed1 supported living home, then I was promoted as a team manager where I managed 3 supported living homes, managing staff and ensuring that customers were provided with a high quality service. I was responsible for budget control, quality assurance, Rotas and compliance.
I feel it is vital that we offer a very personal service to each of our customers and that we provide high quality care to people in their own homes. I ensure this happens by recruiting the right people as our care workers. I always look for people who are passionate about caring and helping others and who are interested in undertaking the training to enable them to develop their role within Bluebird Care; to ensure that they provide the best possible care.
I am now the registered manager with CQC, I am responsible for all operations within Bluebird Care North Tyneside. I am also responsible for all staff training for our team, along with all the essential training that is required to be able to perform the duties of a Bluebird Care care worker. I also ensure that all staff have access to study for their NVQ in Health and Social Care and any additional training which will help them in their role.
I hold a Diploma in Health and Social Care, I hold level 2,3,4 I also hold a level 3 in Leadership & Management, I am currently working towards my Level 5 in Care Management.
I have completed many courses in the care sector covering all aspects of Safeguarding, Medication, Mental Capacity Act, DOLS.
I have also completed Train the Trainer courses in the Principles of Safe & Appropriate Handling of Medicines level 1 & 2 and Train the Trainer in the Moving and Handling of People.
I have over 20 years work experience in both residential and domiciliary care and joined Bluebird Care North Tyneside in January 2013 as a Care Support worker. I love every aspect of my role. Getting to know customers and their families and delivering high quality care, as the Bluebird Care ethos, is very important to me and with it brings great job satisfaction.
I was promoted to Senior Carer then to Team Leader in 2014 and recently have been promoted to my current role as Care Coordinator. I hold a NVQ2 and NVQ3 in Health and Social Care and I am currently working towards my NVQ3 in Management.
In November 2014 I represented the North East in the Great British Care Awards and went on to win The Dignity In Care Award.
For 30 years before joining the Bluebird Care Team, I worked as a Senior Secretary for one of the best known Building Surveying Practices in Newcastle. It was a very busy environment but I felt myself starting to get bored and felt I needed a change.
Although I had not worked in the Care Industry before, I spent a great many years caring for my mother who suffered with dementia. When the position came along at Bluebird Care, I thought it would be a great opportunity to give something back to the community as I felt I would have a great amount of empathy with both clients and their families.
My role at Bluebird Care involves the day to day administration within the office and I also assist the Care Manager with recruiting of new care workers. I have loved getting to know the customers on a day to day basis and feeling part of a team who have the customer’s best care at heart. I am really enjoying this new role.
I have worked at Bluebird Care as the Accounts Administrator since July 2018 whilst working towards my Association of Accounting Technicians qualification at college which I completed last year. My role involves the invoicing, paying suppliers, calculating wages, ordering PPE and office stationary and other office duties.
Prior to joining the Bluebird Care Team I spent time working in Customer Service and I feel that this has also stood me in good stead for my role here, where providing the best service to our clients is of the utmost importance to us all. I take great enjoyment and job satisfaction in my role knowing that we are providing an excellent service to our clients enabling them to stay in their own homes and providing peace of mind to their families.
I joined Bluebird Care as a Support Supervisor at the start of 2019 however I have worked in care since 2017. I started working in care whilst completing my Degree in Psychology and Criminology. I then completed my NVQ level 2 in adult health and social care and I am currently completing my Master’s Degree.
My role involves delivering high quality care to our customers, completing spot checks and medication observations, completing monthly supervisions with our care workers and also supporting new carers as they begin and settle into their role. I also conduct regular reviews with our customers to ensure our care plans are kept up to date and that we are supporting our customers’ needs as their requirements change. I thoroughly enjoy my role, I enjoy getting to know our customers and their families. I also enjoy working with and supporting our new carers as they settle into their roles.
