Bluebird Care's annual Carer Appreciation Day 2026 brought together colleagues from across Sheffield, Chesterfield and Lincolnshire to celebrate the incredible dedication, compassion and professionalism shown by care teams throughout the year.
The event provided an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution made by care teams who work around the clock, 365 days a year, supporting customers to remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes. It was also an opportunity to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society while bringing colleagues together for a day of celebration and appreciation.
The day featured entertainment, activities, crafts, fundraising initiatives and, most importantly, the annual care awards. Many of the awards were nominated by colleagues, making the recognition especially meaningful as it reflected the respect and appreciation of fellow team members.
The 2026 award winners were:
- Palliative Care Team Member of the Year: Edna May Taylor Collins
- Domiciliary Care Team Member of the Year: Manjit Kaur
- Complex Care Team Member of the Year: Precious Adenuga
- Care at Night Service Team Member of the Year: Annemarie Wood
- Customers Outstanding Care Award: Memory Matamba
- Sue West Award for Outstanding Care Delivery: Sonia Braga
- Domiciliary Care Team Member of the Year: Shupi Carol Muzenda
Throughout the event, carers were recognised for their compassion, professionalism, commitment to person-centred care and willingness to go above and beyond for customers and families. The awards highlighted the exceptional standards of care delivered across every area of the business and provided an opportunity to celebrate the individuals whose dedication makes such a difference every day.
