Bluebird Care is supporting Young Carer’s Awareness Day, an annual campaign run by the Carer’s Trust on 30th January.

According to the Carer’s Trust, 1 in 5 secondary school children may be a young carer, looking after a parent, friend or relative. This may because of an illness, disability or drug or alcohol problem. Caring for another person at a young age can put a huge amount of stress and pressure on a child at the most important stage of their life.

This Young Carer’s Awareness Day, Carer’s Trust are launching their #CountMeIn Campaign to encourage education providers to recognise the impact that caring can have on a child or young person, and to ensure they receive the recognition and support they deserve.

Carer’s Trust is a major charity that works to support unpaid carers who are caring for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. Their UK wide network of assured partners work to offer grants to help carers get the extra help they need to live their own lives.

You can get involved in the conversation on social media using the hash tag #CountMeIn and #YoungCarersAwarenessDay. You can find out more information on the Carer’s Trust website here.
