Bluebird Care Newcastle has been awarded the highest rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) - an accolade achieved by less than 4% of care providers according to the 2019 State of Care report.

Bluebird Care South Tyneside and Newcastle has been awarded the highest rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) - an accolade achieved by less than 4% of care providers according to the 2019 State of Care report.

At a planned inspection last summer, the Boldon-based firm, which provides care for older people in their own homes, was rated as “overall outstanding”, improving on its 2016 rating of “good”.

The CQC report, published in October, highly praised staff who “went the extra mile” to provide compassionate care and support and treat people with kindness and dignity.

Staff were praised by the CQC for their compassionate care and support.

It also noted how those using the service had described Bluebird Care as “exceptional”, with one relative saying it is a “shining example” of what a homecare service should be.

Managing director, David Haswell said: “At Bluebird Care, we are committed to helping people maintain their independence and live engaged, fulfilling and comfortable lives. It is this commitment to excellent care at home and giving people back their autonomy that really sets Bluebird Care apart.

“We have a wonderful team of compassionate and highly-trained care assistants who genuinely love to care and we are delighted to have this recognised.”

The report also highlighted how staff went above and beyond to ensure people could pursue social interests to promote their wellbeing and maintain social contact, including supporting one person with dementia to have meals out and attend local music concerts.

Staff from Bluebird Care South Tyneside and Newcastle have been rated as "outstanding" by watchdogs.

He continued: “We are particularly dedicated to tackling loneliness in South Tyneside and Newcastle. We make sure that everyone we support has a friendly face to turn to and someone to share their stories and life experiences with.

Inspectors found that people supported by Bluebird Care were actively involved in their own care plans and felt able to discuss their wishes.

Mr Haswell added: Our care assistants take the time to get know our customers and their loved ones to develop a programme of care that meets their needs. Whether that be a rehabilitation programme, respite care plan, or support to remain independent and enjoy life.”
