The 8th-14th of June is a time where we reflect and appreciate the hard work carers (both paid and unpaid) do day in day out to support the most vulnerable in our community.

Working as a care assistant is by no means an easy job, and it is important to recognize that many individuals whom may not identify as “carers”  play a vital role in supporting their families and friends and by doing so support the wider community.

Carers week is a chance for individuals and organizations to show thanks and raise awareness about the vital role that care assistants play in our local communities.  At Bluebird Care Redbridge and Essex, we feel this year it is more important than ever to join force with others and praise our care assistants for the fantastic work that they do. Below is a summary of some of the things that Bluebird Care Redbridge, Mid Essex, Essex West and Southend done to praise the care assistants last week.

All homecare and Live-in Care assistants where gifted well-being packages containing hand creams, soaps, face masks and sweet treats. These well-being packages where designed so that when our care employees have some time off they can take some time to care for themselves. In addition to this Kevin McCormack Managing Director partook in a live video thanking care staff for all their hard work – paying special attention to the hard work they have put in over the corona virus.

Bluebird Care Mid Essex care assistants received “care” badges with a rainbow on, which references the hard work they have put in whilst working on the front line.

Bluebird Care Essex West’s carers also got gingerbread men which were donated by Stondan Massey petrol garage in aid of the week.

Further to this we asked our care assistants to write short messages to praising each other for the work that they do. Messages where displayed on social media and in the office, some of the messages are captured below;

“ I love being a carer for many reasons, but mostly because I love hearing the amazing stories the elderly have to tell, they appreciate the you give. Being a carer has given me so much life experience and never take a day for granted.”

“I am grateful for being a part of such a supportive team, my team make me feel as though I am part of a family!”

At Bluebird Care Mid and West Essex, Southend and Redbridge we are doing all we can to ensure our care assistants feel valued and supported. We did our best last week to ensure they felt special and we set out each day with the objective of empowering our care team and sustaining our engaging workforce culture.
