Caroline Sommerville named Regional Registered Care Manager in Bluebird Care Awards

Caroline Sommerville, who has been working as Registered Manager in Bluebird Care’s Truro office for 1½ years, was a national runner up in the national Registered Manager of the Year Award at the inaugural Bluebird Care Awards earlier this week. At the awards, Caroline received the title Regional Registered Manager of the Year for the South West region.
 
At a special afternoon tea hosted at Fortnum and Mason in London, Caroline was one of six regional winners chosen from more than 180 Bluebird Care offices across the UK.
 
The panel of judges included: Bridget Warr CBE, Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA); Heléna Herklots, Chief Executive of Carers UK; and David Brindle, Public Services Editor at The Guardian.
 
Judge Bridget Warr said: “It was a great privilege to be asked to judge these awards, and extremely difficult to select only one winner. Being able to hear the positive stories in which care assistants influence people’s lives on a day-to-day basis was a great honour, and there was genuinely no weak link in any of the finalist categories.”
 
Director of Bluebird Care Mid and West Cornwall, Graham Carruthers, said: “We are extremely proud of Caroline reaching the national final. The Bluebird Care Awards are a celebration of the extraordinary passion, professionalism and dedication of our care teams and we are delighted to see Caroline recognised for her exemplary contribution to caring for people in their own home.”
 
Caroline Sommerville said: “I am proud and honoured to lead such an outstanding team and so pleased to be nominated and receive the regional title. I enjoyed a fantastic day at the Awards ceremony meeting likeminded people from all over the UK.
 
The Bluebird Care Awards winners were recognised for the outstanding, and often extraordinary, contribution that they have made over the past year in improving the lives of Bluebird Care customers.
