A warm welcome at Duchy Hospital
Our visit to Duchy Hospital, and why working together matters more than ever.
A few weeks ago, our Recruitment and Publicity Manager, Sarah, spent the day at Duchy Hospital, and returned with plenty to share.
She was invited by Joss D'Souza to hear the latest updates from the hospital and from WPA Health Insurance. What followed was a day of good conversation, new faces, and one of the best lunches we have had in a long while, served, of course, by the Duchy team themselves.
Putting people first
The theme that ran through the whole day was a simple one: people come first.
That is something we talk about a lot at Bluebird Care, so it was good to hear it echoed by others. WPA Healthcare Practice Plc and Ramsay Health Care UK spoke about their shared commitment to healthcare that is flexible, high in quality, and built around the person receiving it. Not around the process.
It is the same thinking that shapes our own work. Care that fits the person, not the other way round.

What stood out about Duchy
A few things were hard to miss.
The dedication of the staff, first of all. You can tell very quickly when a team genuinely cares, and this one does.
Then there is the attention to detail in patient care, the growing range of treatments on offer, and facilities that are genuinely impressive. Put together, it paints a clear picture: patients are at the heart of everything the team does there.
Better together
Conversations like these are not just a pleasant day out.
Collaboration between care providers, hospitals and healthcare leaders has never been more important. When we understand each other's work, the people we support feel the difference, in smoother handovers, in joined-up decisions, and in fewer things falling through the gaps.
Our Care Experts see this every day. A hospital stay is only one part of someone's story. What happens when they get home is just as important, and that works best when everyone is talking to each other.
Thank you
A big thank you to Joss for the invitation, and to Jordan and Lucy for such a warm welcome and for sharing their passion and vision so openly.
We left with new contacts, a few new ideas, and a reminder of something we already believed.
Good care is built on good relationships. And after every hospital stay, it's good to be home.
