Rizwana’s background is in accountancy, having worked as an auditor for HSBC and Bank of Scotland for over ten years. Looking for a change in direction, and wanting to work in an industry where she would be able to make a difference to people’s lives, Rizwana initially re-entered the world of education and went back to University where she achieved a first class honours degree in Psychology. During her time studying psychology, Rizwana gained exposure working with people in their homes with an array of conditions and recognised the need and importance for high quality care. She spent time working with people from a variety of backgrounds and learned first-hand how difficult it would become for family members to handle the emotional and physical strain of looking after a loved one in need of care.
By opening Bluebird Care Manchester South, Rizwana wanted to give those people the opportunity to spend time as a family member and not just as a carer. By looking after our customers like members of our own family, we allow their family members to enjoy time with their loved one whilst we take the pressure and demands of caring away from them if they so choose. By placing their trust in us, customers and their loved ones can have the confidence to enjoy a more independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home.
Opening Bluebird Care, Rizwana has fulfilled the gaps she found to exist within the care sector.
We do things differently – we focus on the customer. Each package of care is person centred to the customer at Bluebird Care. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent quality of care at a time and in a way that the customer would like. We recognise the importance of having continuity and value the customer’s choice so we work hard to give the customer the type of care they would receive from a member of their own family.”
Live in care is a favourite area of the business for Rizwana. Being a strong and independent woman herself, she champions each individual’s choice to remain in their own homes for as long as they like.
Live in care is not just for customers that require care 24 hours a day, or that live alone, it is also available for couples, or for people that want to have a daily social interaction and support with someone else. A live in care assistant is present in a customer’s home 24hours a day, to support as and when care is required, but the highly skilled live in care team ensure that the care assistant is still mindful to encourage and promote the customers independence.
Leading a fabulous experienced management team at Manchester South, Rizwana is proud that her team shares her values in delivering high quality.
Every member of my team both in the office and out in the field know the importance of working in the care sector and the importance of putting the customer first. It’s more than just a job to my team and I, it’s a calling, a passion and a vocation. More importantly it’s about making a tangible difference to people’s lives.”
