Registered Manager at Bluebird Care Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, Mel Marriott, has been named as a finalist for the Registered Manager of the Year category at this year's Leaders in Care Awards.

The annual Leaders in Care Awards celebrate the brightest and best in the health care sector and applaud the achievements of care providers, suppliers, and individuals across the UK.

An indisputably key position within a home care service, this award recognises Managers who have set the tone of their business by providing a lead to team members through establishing and driving a caring culture and the pursuit of excellence.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Mel Marriott has exemplified these traits in her role at Bluebird Care Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells over the last 12 months.

Time and time again, Mel Marriott has led by example, displaying leadership, dedication, and a selfless commitment to the needs of others, from customers to team members, and the wider community.

As a result of this, the Registered Manager at the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated ‘Good’ home care provider has been able to successfully take over a second branch, extending her responsibilities as Manager. This expansion has enabled her and her team to now reach even more vulnerable people across the local area.

To ensure the highest standards of care were maintained during this period of growth, Mel has also focused on the development of her team, through the implementation of new processes, structures, and an innovative training schedule that has helped foster excellence throughout the home care provider.

Mel will learn whether she has been victorious at the exclusive awards ceremony at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on 11th October.

Reflecting on her award shortlisting, Mel Marriott, said:

“It’s fantastic to be named as finalist for such a prestigious industry award. Over the last 12 months we have had to endure some challenging moments, but together we have not only overcome these difficulties, but thrived. I am delighted that I have been recognised as Manager, but I also must extend the upmost credit to my team who I work alongside every day, and who constantly go above and beyond to deliver the highest standard of care and support to our customers.”

Speaking about Mel Marriott, Tammie Johnson, Business Development Manager at Bluebird Care Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells, said:

“Her leadership and commitment to the care and support of others clearly demonstrates why she is highly respected and valued by both team members and customers alike. Mel is a passionate and selfless individual, who always puts the needs of others first. It is for these reasons that Mel thoroughly deserves to be recognised and celebrated – congratulations Mel!”
